  How He Started

Fred W Hornbruch has been running his own businesses since the age of ten, to working for Procter & Gamble in New York City out of Yale, to co-founding Creative Publications, Inc. out of Stanford, to his 'retirement' at the age of 39 to travel, triathlon and ultra-trail run around the world, to owning Phileas Fogg’s Travel Bookstore & Travel Agency, to his 2nd ‘retirement’ at age 59, to sitting on numerous for-profit and non-profit Boards, to consulting with businesses domestically and internationally.

Now in his 2nd ‘retirement’ since age 59, he provides entrepreneurial mentoring to start-ups, is an author, editor and publisher himself while offering publishing services to authors of all kind, and teaches students from elementary school to graduate level. He sits on numerous for-profit and non-profit Boards, and consults with businesses domestically and internationally.

      He is a 31 year member of Rotary International, sometimes leads trips for Rotary groups, and has traveled to all seven continents and over 50 countries. He is a collector of foreign language copies of Jules Verne's Around the World in Eighty Days and currently owns 25 different language versions, including an original book in French.

Fred's Interests

International business and services, performing arts, photography, travel of all kinds, and most sports … including finishing the Hawaiian Ironman Triathlon, 1982 & 1992, the Hawaiian Ultraman Triathlon, 1983, Western States 100 Mile Run, 1984 & 1987 and Leadville Trail 100 Mile Run, 1988, numerous marathons around the world, plus outrigger canoe racing with HPOCC in Foster City, CA and KCC in Keauhou, Kona, Hawaii, since 2009.

Fred has been involved with Yale, Stanford, YMCA, Early Learning Institute, Rotary International, Citizens Schools,, La Comida de California and the International Ocean Film Festival, which has this to say about Fred

“He has been an engaged entrepreneur since his youth, is a travel expert, an ocean swimmer, kayaker and outrigger canoe racer, a former amateur underwater photographer and an all-around ocean lover. He has completed many ultra-events, including the Hawaiian Ironman and Ultraman Triathlons and the Western States and Leadville 100-Mile Trail Endurance Runs and the Queen Lilioukalani Outrigger Canoe Race in Kona, Hawaii.”
